The Magic of Printmaking
Original prints are, without question, the most misunderstood and undervalued of all art media. Even distinguishing an original print from a reproduction can be challenging. Identifying one print medium from another is downright daunting.
The Magic of Printmaking offers straightforward descriptions of the processes involved in creating original intaglios (etching, engraving, drypoint, aquatint and mezzotint), relief prints (woodcut and linocut), silkscreens (serigraphy) and lithographs.
We hope the exhibition on CCAM’s lower level will give viewers a new appreciation for the enormous creativity, technical requisites and physical demands that go into every edition of a print.
